Logan & Carolyn: Surprise Proposal at City Club Raleigh

I have never been as flattered in my life as when Logan contacted me and told me his soon-to-be fiancé followed me on Instagram and knew that I was who she wanted to capture their proposal!

Logan worked alongside an amazing team at the City Club in Raleigh to pull off one of the cutest proposals I've ever seen. After a date night dinner where they shared their first kiss, Logan told Carolyn they had a blind Krispy Kreme and champagne tasting.

Little did she know, as she was blindfolded, their family and friends (who were hiding in the room next door!) filled into the room. Logan asked her to take her blindfold off for a minute, and she turned around to see him down on one knee!

After the shock of the proposal, Carolyn realized that their family and friends were there to celebrate their special day too!

We had so much fun getting to know Logan & Carolyn and did a handful of engagement photos with them that night before letting them celebrate with their family and friends!

I Said Yes to the Dress, At Home!

For the past couple years, I have had my eyes set on Azazie’s Lafayette dress. It was a beautiful flowy gown with gorgeous layers of tulle, floral appliques, and basically everything a girl could dream of in a wedding dress! Right after I got engaged, I signed up to be on the waitlist to be notified when one was available in my size through their at-home try on program.

Little did I know, that meant I would only have to wait a couple of days. I got the email that my dream dress was available to try on so of course I went to order it immediately! Through their program, you are able to “rent” up to 3 dresses for a week. At the last minute, I decided it was probably a good idea to add 2 other dresses to my box “just in case.”

The dresses took about a week to process and ship and I knew I wanted it to me more of an experience than just trying them on as soon as they got there, so I invited some family and friends to join in on the fun.

Of course, as soon as the box got there though, I promptly FaceTimed my mom and ripped it open! I just wanted to see the beauty in real life! I immediately had a few concerns with the details that were way more obvious in person than online and was so glad I decided to order some backup dresses.

Saturday FINALLY came around, (do you know how hard it is to NOT try on a wedding dress when it is just sitting in your room!?) and we turned our house into a bridal boutique! No girls day is complete without a brunch board and mimosas.

After brunch, we headed to our church to meet with the pastor and let our mom’s see our ceremony location then spent some time on our newly renovated main street in Franklinton! We sent Cody on his way to play golf and then came home for what we’d all been waiting for.

In my mind, I knew the order in which I liked the dresses and decided to put on my least favorite first and work up to what I thought would be THE ONE. As soon as I put on the first dress and walked out into our living room, I knew that poor Lafayette was going to have a run for her money. We added a belt and a veil and everyone ooh-ed and ahh-ed over it. Spoiler alert: this ended up being my dress!

I reminded everyone that this was originally my least favorite and we had 2 more to look at first! As much as we all loved the train on the second one, we couldn’t get over some of the details in the lace. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the nude underlay. We’re getting married in a fairly traditional church and don’t think our pastor would have approved either.

Finally, it was time for the dress I’ve pictured myself walking down the aisle in for years! As soon as Taelor took it out of the bag, I knew it wasn’t going to be my dress. We laughed and struggled to get me into the endless layers of tulle and I walked out. It was such a pretty dress, but ultimately not the one for me!

I am SO grateful that I decided to do this at-home try on process. It was so relaxed and laid-back and we got to make a whole day of it! I would totally recommend this to all my brides. Also, I am blown away by the quality of Azazie’s dresses. I knew they were amazing for bridesmaids dresses, but their wedding dress line is absolutely incredible, and so much more affordable than I ever could have imagined!

Kasey + Matt: Downtown Raleigh Engagement Session

Zach + Jessica

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for the ability to fly to Georgia for a weekend to do an engagement session with an old friend.

I'm thankful that Zach found someone to love him at his goofiest. Jessica and Zach are the perfect combination of sweet and goofy and we had a blast together.

I'm thankful we had the opportunity to go to downtown Senoia, Georgia (where The Walking Dead and various other TV shows and movies have been filmed) for their engagement photos.

I am thankful for this gorgeous alley and Michael Escobar for teaching me to think outside the box and that it's always okay (and encouraged) to have a little fun.

I'm thankful for Fall weather and Zach's taste in diamonds (isn't Jessica's ring gorgeous!?)

I'm thankful that my job lets me be surrounded by love and laughter.

I'm thankful for Zach and Jessica's natural chemistry that made my job so easy.

Most importantly, I'm thankful that these two found each other and that we get to celebrate their love and marriage in March!
